Keep on top of household tasks by getting your family a Notice board
You may think a notice board for the house a touch superfluous but think about it. How many times have you said you will vacuum the carpet or fit in new bulbs and found that a week has flown by with you accomplishing neither? Pinning these chores to a kitchen notice board will not only help you remember what you should do, but also help you get more things done. How? When everyone in the home puts down tasks to be done on the notice board, chores that you hadn’t thought of are included in the family routine.
Kitchen pin boards or message boards come in a variety of designs and colours to blend into the general feel and design of your kitchen. The two most common materials are cork and felt. You can also get wine cork boards but these are a bit more costly. With £5 you can get an ordinary cork board, but for a wine cork board, you will have to part with not less than £12.50.
You will also want to get a board with a frame that doesn’t contrast badly with the kitchen decor. Usually the choice here is between frameless boards, aluminium frames or wooden frames. Wooden frames only make sense as most cupboards and drawers are wooden. However, the shades may contrast, so try and get a frame that comes as close as possible to the hues of your cupboards and drawers.
Did you know you can get notice boards in shapes other than the boring standard rectangle? You can get blackboards and pin boards shaped into cute little dogs or teddy bears to draw the attention of your kids and inform them of tasks that need to be done.
Other types of notice boards that can be used include whiteboards, magnetic steel boards and blackboards. When we say blackboards we are not referring to the conventional blackboard that needs to be supported by an easel. What is commonly used in kitchens is the fridge blackboard which is held to the fridge door by magnetic strips. The size of the board (approximately 19 X 28cm) allows it to fit easily onto the door of almost any size of fridge. And it comes complete with chalk and a felt duster. Those with an aversion to using chalk or the sensation of chalk dust between their fingers will probably not want to try this option. But at £7.50, it ranks among the more affordable options. Whiteboards offer a less messy option.
